About the Item

Compatible with US/EU standards. Large Space Age and Brutalist style pendant lamp by Friedel Wauer for Goldkant Leuchten, Germany, 1970s. Composed of a large metal frame in the shape of a big bell or dome, covered with Cocoon resin. Beige fabric borders with golden details. Brass and gold chrome metal structure. Hollywood Regency, Space Age, French Riviera, Brutalist, Op Art, Scandinavian, Nordic, Danish, Safari and Mid-Century Modern style. Very much in the style of Estiluz’s Spanish designs, which used the Cocoon resin in some of its iconic lighting fixtures during the 60s and 70s. Very much in the style also of the “Taraxacum” chandelier designed by Castiglioni, which became very popular in all of the interiors of those decades, and still today is a very coveted object, and of George Nelson and Isamu Noguchi’s creations, who used this material as the main element in many of their designs. Very much in the style also of Tobia Scarpa’s iconic “Nuvola” pendant lamp for Flos. Collectible item. The Cocoon material was invented after World War II to protect unarmed warships and other unprotected items. It is made of powdered plastic and fiberglass. Cocoon lampshade diameter: 55 cm Cocoon lampshade height: 23 cm Wire lenght: 175 cm For three E27 bulbs (compatible with American E26 bulbs). Original electrical installation reviewed and fully operational, with new 175 cm lenght new white wire. LED compatible. Wear and tear, and slight marks and signs of the passage of time on the metal structure. Note: We always try to the fullest to respect and preserve as much as possible all the original elements of each piece (wiring, lampshade, finishes...) so as not to alter the original aesthetics and so that they can continue to have another life with their intact soul. That is why sometimes certain elements can present wear and tear, but they are part of the life of each piece, always providing a very pleasant patina.
