About the Item

Elegant French Art Deco pendant chandelier signed Degué, made in France during the 1920s. The fixture combines a stamped brass frame with a large pink frosted glass shade decorated with a stylized floral motif, characteristic of the geometric and naturalistic vocabulary of French Art Deco. The shade is signed “Degué.” Its soft pink tone and satin-frosted surface create a warm, diffused light, while the molded decoration becomes especially expressive when illuminated. Degué was the trademark created by David Guéron (1892-1950), an important figure in French decorative glass between the wars. Following the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Guéron developed his production in Compiègne and later in Paris, producing vases, lamps, ceiling fixtures, chandeliers, and decorative art glass under the Degué name. The company achieved considerable success in the late 1920s with richly colored glass, molded patterns, sandblasted decoration, and sophisticated lighting designs. From 1928, Degué also collaborated with the French ceramicist Édouard Cazaux, whose strongly stylized geometric vocabulary influenced several notable molded-glass designs. This pendant is a fine example of 1920s French Art Deco lighting, combining elegant proportions, decorative glasswork, and architectural presence. It works beautifully in an entryway, dining room, bedroom, or sophisticated contemporary interior. Dimensions: Height: 24.8 in. (63 cm), adjustable and can be shortened Width: 15 in.
