About the Item

An elegant and high quality French late 19th century Louis XV/XVI st. Ormolu chandelier. This stunning six arm chandelier is centered by a charming spiral reeded final below the Ormolu base to which the six arms are connected. Each scrolled arm is decorated with richly chased acanthus leaves below the tapered and fluted candle cups with beaded edges. The arms surround the central support displaying a spiral reeded fut encased within unique and most decorative pierced Rocaille mounts. The support leads to a reeded finial with crossed ribbons before the elegant original linked chain and foliate decorated canopy. Wonderful proportions and beautiful gilding throughout.
