Compatible with modern LED bulbs. About Louis Sognot Louis Sognot (1892–1970) was one of the leading figures of twentieth-century French decorative arts and furniture design. A graduate of the École Boulle in Paris, he developed a distinctive approach that combined modernist principles with exceptional craftsmanship and a deep appreciation for natural materials. During the 1920s and 1930s, Sognot collaborated with several important French manufacturers and participated in major decorative arts exhibitions, establishing himself as a prominent designer of the Art Deco period. Following World War II, his work evolved toward the lighter, more organic aesthetic that would define French Mid-Century Modern design. He became particularly renowned for his innovative use of rattan, bamboo, wicker, and cane, elevating these traditional materials into sophisticated contemporary furniture and lighting. His creations balanced functionality, elegance, and comfort, helping shape the relaxed yet refined spirit of postwar French interiors.
