About the Item

This piece originates from the collection of the Palais de Soye, a neoclassical residence built in 1809 by Baron de Soye, General of the First French Empire. The Palais de Soye, family seat of the de Soye lineage, housed one of the most significant private collections assembled during the Napoleonic era. Pieces from this collection carry an unbroken provenance spanning more than two centuries. A rare and impressive French Art Déco chandelier by Schneider Frères, Epinay-sur-Seine, circa 1920–1928. This exceptional six-light fixture exemplifies the mastery of the Schneider workshop at the height of their production. The central bowl, of generous proportions (80 cm diameter), is executed in Schneider’s signature mottled and marbled glass in a striking palette of deep orange, amber and flame red — among the most sought-after colorways in the Schneider repertoire. The glass carries the engraved wheel-cut signature “Schneider” on the underside of the bowl, confirming authenticity beyond doubt. Six matching tulip-form shades in the same mottled orange and white glass radiate from the bronze armature, each mounted on elegantly scrolled bronze arms. The border of the central bowl is encircled by a finely cast bronze galon with pearl beading detail. The fixture is suspended by three ornamental rectangular-link bronze chains, gathered at a foliate bronze ceiling rose. The electrical installation has been fully rewired to current European standards. Ready to install. Signed: Schneider (wheel-engraved on the central bowl) Dimensions: 80 cm diameter × 90 cm height Materials: Mottled art glass, patinated bronze Origin: France, Epinay-sur-Seine Period: circa 1920–1928 Condition: Excellent — all six shades intact and matching, bronze patina consistent throughout
