About the Item

Pendant lights by German manufacturer Schmahl & Schulz feature a drum-form shade in matte black metal with a ring of vertical clear glass tubes set into the perimeter band. The glass tubes run the full circumference of the shade, diffusing light outward in an evenly distributed glow. A cylindrical stem in a light metallic finish connects the shade to the black fabric-covered drop cord. Each light is sold individually, with drop cord lengths varying approximately 18 to 30 inches. Schmahl & Schulz was a mid-20th century German lighting manufacturer known for producing well-constructed commercial and residential fixtures during the postwar period. The glass tube perimeter detail on these pendants reflects a broader interest in light diffusion through structured, repeating elements — a design approach common in German modernist lighting of the 1950s and 1960s.
