About the Item

In this listing you will find a striking Mid-Century pendant light designed by Friedel Wauer for Goldkant Leuchten, Germany. The pendant features Wauer’s characteristic sculptural approach to lighting, with a lightweight geometric shade formed around a slender metal framework and covered in a finely textured, translucent synthetic fiber material. The repeated ribs create a beautifully architectural silhouette, alternating between broad vertical sections and sharply tapered facets toward the top and bottom. When illuminated, the fibrous surface becomes particularly expressive, producing a warm, softly diffused glow while revealing the intricate web-like texture of the material and emphasizing the underlying framework. When switched off, the shade takes on a restrained ivory-white appearance, giving the pendant an elegant and almost weightless presence. The combination of experimental materials, geometric construction and atmospheric light is highly characteristic of progressive German lighting design of the Mid-Century period. Complete with its original-style suspension and ceiling canopy. When purchased the pendant will be carefully wrapped up and packed in a way to avoid any damages in transport.
