About the Item

This floor lamp reflects the “Boomerang” form associated with mid-century modern lighting from the 1960s–1970s. While rooted in Scandinavian design language, this example is consistent with Canadian production, where similar pieces were made using solid teak and simple metal hardware. The structure is defined by its angular base, formed by tapered legs that meet at a central joint before extending upward in a sharp, directional line. This geometry creates a balanced stance while maintaining a sense of lightness. The solid teak construction emphasizes the warmth and grain of the material, with smooth transitions between each structural element. At the top, a bonnet-style shade is mounted with minimal metal hardware, likely brass or copper. The shade is angled to direct light forward, making it suitable for both reading and ambient use. The relationship between the angled arm and the asymmetric shade gives the lamp its characteristic profile. The lamp is in excellent condition, with a stable structure and well-preserved surfaces. The wood shows a consistent tone, and the shade will be replaced with a new, identical fabric example due to a minor stain on the current one. The hardware remains intact and fully functional.
