B4 Floor Lamp by Disderot Limited Edition. Designed by René-Jean Caillette. Dimensions: Ø 30 x H 150 cm. Materials: Walnut, plexiglass and polished stainless steel. Delivered with authentication certificate. Made in France. Custom finishes are available on request. Please contact us. All our lamps can be wired according to each country. If sold to the USA it will be wired for the USA for instance. This large floor lamp is designed by René-Jean Caillette as an extension of the wall lamp B3, with a thin brass tube and round base in solid wood. Available in two sizes, this lamp is ideal next to a sofa, as a reading lamp or as ambient lighting. Similar to the wall lamp, the B4 floor lamp is offered in several finishes to fit a vintage or more contemporary decor. His perfect mastery of cabinetmaking and artistic skills led him to the School of Applied Arts, from where he graduated in 1937 to begin what became a dazzling career. He was a member of the most influential group of designers, won many prestigious prizes and created a number of major pieces of furniture, which are now exhibited in museums throughout the world. He was a lecturer for 25 years and trained some of the best designers of today. The simplicity of his drawings is not that of ascetic minimalism, but the product of an ethics that knows how to combine beauty with the utmost discretion. After studying engineering, Pierre Disderot opened his first studio in 1948. His collaboration with the young avant-garde designers, Pierre Guariche, JosephAndré Motte, Alain Richard, and Michel Mortier, led him to create what is today considered to be the best lighting of the nineteen fifties. His aesthetic abilities and knowledge allowed him to design an important part of the Disderot catalog, revealing, beyond the publisher, an artist of the first-order.
