About the Item

Glazed ceramic floor lamp by famous Swiss ceramist Edouard Chapallaz, ca. 1960s A column of 19 pieces stacked with a silk shade on top. All pieces with creator stamp engraved Chapallaz Duillier( pictures ) only visible if disassembled. 3 lighting positions, only the bottom bulbs or the top bulb or all together by pullig the cord. Very good condition. Big silk shade D 60 x H 42 cm Total height ( include shade ) : 165 cm Edouard Chapallaz (1921-2016) was one of the leading figures in Swiss ceramics in the second half of the 20th century. From the end of the 1950s, this ceramist with exceptional technique developed throughout five decades a personal research work on sandstone and enamels, which is distinguished by archetypical forms with striking formal and spiritual qualities. His prolific work was, during his lifetime, highly appreciated and rewarded internationally, very well represented in many Swiss and European museums, as well as in the United States and Asia. Edouard Chapallaz has thus become a contemporary «Classic».
