About the Item

Italian Mid-Century floor lamp constructed with a vertical brass stem and two asymmetrically placed brass arms, each supporting a mold-blown clear glass globe shade. Geometric wood accent pieces in a warm amber tone are positioned at the arm junctions and mid-stem, adding visual contrast to the brass hardware. Black enameled metal candelabra socket housings secure each globe. The base is a flat enameled black metal zig-zag form that grounds the composition with angular structure. Italian lighting of the postwar decades was characterized by the combination of industrial materials — brass, enameled metal — with handcraft elements like mold-blown glass and decorative wood. This lamp reflects that cross-disciplinary approach, mixing fabricated metalwork with artisan glass production typical of the period. The geometric wood accents align with the decorative vocabulary common to Italian modernist design of the 1950s and 1960s.
