About the Item

A rare and highly architectural “KRI Supporto Lettura” floor lamp designed by S. Asahara and A. Yamamoto for Lucitalia, Italy, circa late 1980s. This piece is a refined example of Italian postmodern and high-tech lighting design, combining industrial precision with sculptural clarity. Constructed in lacquered steel with a slender chromed metal stem and weighted base, the lamp supports an adjustable horizontal arm fitted with two directional light modules. Each head features a ribbed cylindrical shade in lacquered aluminium, finished in a vivid red tone that creates a strong visual contrast against the black and chrome structure. The adjustable system allows for precise directional lighting, making it suitable as a reading floor lamp, task light, or ambient lighting element. The lamp is also dimmable, allowing control over light intensity and enhancing its versatility across different environments. The use of aluminium shades paired with a low-voltage halogen system reinforces its technical and industrial character, characteristic of Italian lighting design from the late 1980s to early 1990s. Exposed structural elements, visible wiring, and modular construction place the piece within the high-tech and postmodern design movements, often associated with Italian manufacturers such as Artemide and Flos. Its graphic silhouette and bold use of color give it a strong sculptural presence while maintaining full functionality. A versatile and collectible Italian floor lamp, ideal for interiors focused on postmodern design, industrial aesthetics, or curated lighting collections.
