About the Item

Bulb bulb lamp designed by Ingo Maurer 1969 Manufactured by M Design, Germany. Ingo Maurer’s obsession for the Edison bulb as the central lighting object influenced his almost entire career. The Bulb has appeared early in his design and continues to be the object that so simply creates light and yet remains a miracle. In a pop-art gesture he created this one from ABS plastic, a giant bulb, luminated by a bulb inside. A wording, That obviously is the reference for the title. And it’s a very particular bulb he refers to here, the Edison standard 60Watts bulb. Engraved in the Bulb Bulb’s top we find the same standards, amongst others „made in USA“, that the Edison bulbs carry on their top. In the socket part we then do see „made in Germany“ and also „designed by Ingo Maurer“ an intelligent play with the concept of originality that he reminds us think of. His design is reminiscence to the great Charles Edison and the bulb itself. It’s one of the objects that he created early in his career in 1969, when he lived in New York City, working as a graphic designer for a couple of years. Good used condition, partially a bit rubbed on socket. With makers mark.
