Rakis Floor Lamp in Black Vulcan Stoneware Clay by Catalin Filip. Dimensions: W 30 x D 30 x H 120 cm. Materials: Black Vulcan Stoneware Clay, textured natural ceramic exterior with an antique white glaze interior. All our lamps can be wired according to each country. If sold to the USA it will be wired for the USA for instance. Rakis Floor Lamp by Catalin Filip is a sculptural ceramic floor lamp with a vertical form that suggests a central stem balancing strength and fragility. Each curve pushes the clay close to collapse before being quickly dried, preserving the fluid motion of the raw material. Standing about 1.2 m tall, the lamp is made from three ceramic sections that stack together. Handmade and part of a limited collection, it reflects a sculptural approach to ceramic lighting and functional design. About Cătălin Filip (b. 1989) is a Romanian-born, UK-based artist and designer working primarily with ceramics. A self-taught ceramicist, he develops unique techniques through intuitive experimentation and patient trial and error. Fascinated by the movement and distortions found in nature, he lets process guide form, allowing each piece to reveal how it was made. With a background in architecture, he merges artistic expression with functional design. Over the past year, he has exhibited internationally, including recent presentations in the Netherlands, Romania, Greece, and Mexico, and at the British Ceramics Biennale in the UK, where he received the Fresh Talent Prize.
