About the Item

The Accademia floor lamp, designed by Cini Boeri in 1978, is a rare and monumental lighting piece created for Artemide. It stands as a powerful example of Boeri’s minimalist design philosophy, expressed through rigorous geometry, refined proportions, and a timeless black-and-white color palette. The lamp’s structure is defined by a bold triangular form, crafted from textured black lacquered steel. This material choice ensures both structural strength, while lending the piece a distinctly architectural presence. The triangular geometry creates visual tension and balance, reinforcing the lamp’s sculptural and monumental character. The diffuser is made of cotton fabric, allowing the light to pass through softly and evenly. This material diffuses the glow in a warm and inviting way, creating an atmospheric and intimate illumination. The beige tone of the fabric enhances the purity and restraint of the overall design, remaining faithful to Boeri’s elegant and functional approach. The Accademia floor lamp is equipped with eight E27 lamp holders (compatible with the American E26 standard), producing a highly theatrical and scenographic light effect. A double foot switch allows the user to illuminate either all eight bulbs or only four, offering flexibility in light intensity and mood. The lampshade shows minor signs of wear along the edges, consistent with age and use, as visible in the final photographs. This rare floor version of the Accademia lamp is an exceptional choice for collectors and design connoisseurs seeking a sophisticated, contemporary, and sculptural lighting solution. Its commanding presence makes it suitable for both residential and professional interiors, adapting effortlessly to spaces of varying scale while maintaining a strong visual identity.
