About the Item

Disa hanging lamp designed by the architect J.A. Coderch in 1954. It is an iconic reference of the Lightning Design. Edited and manufactured by Tunds, made with high-quality raw materials and respecting the environment at the same time. The Disa lamp, also known as “Coderch lamp”, with shape of pumpkin, awarded and admired, was the only model of the lamp that the brilliant architect in life led to the manufacture in the middel 1950s. Tunds this time re-edits the Disa lamp with the supervision of the development of the heirs of Coderch. The original dimensions, materials and proportions designed by Coderch and aspects that remained pending in previous versions have been this time developed and improved. It is an interior lamp with semi-gloss black anodized aluminum rings. A light internal structure supports the system of lighting with pure-LED technology. The screen of white methacrylate are helded by little bolts. Then the nice and characteristic shape of the Disa lamp is accomplished. The item that is selling is on the first image. About the designer: José Antonio Coderch (1913-1984) is considered one of the most valued architects in post-war Spain. Often described as the architect of modernity, his works are still seen as vivid examples of contemporary architecture and his legacy includes hundreds of listed buildings all over Spain. Coderch gained significant recognition throughout his career, winning the architecture FAD awards in 1960 and 1972. He also became a member of Team X establishing friendships with other renowned international architects. His design creations such as the Disa lamp or the Polo chimney are also worth mentioning as well as his contributions as a photographer. About the manufacturer: Tunds is the firm that reissues the iconic lamps Disa and Císter created by the architect José Antonio Coderch. The lamps Disa is reissued in wood and methacrylate, and the Císter in the person of suspension lamp, column lamp and floor lamps. Tunds is born from the illusion, the endeavor and the will to develop and materialize ideas. The firm edits designs, owns or ceded, with the restless worry to offer products of quality with a huge range of functionality and simplicity. Pieces that reflect faithfully the spirit, style and especially the original design of the designer that wanted to transmit his work. This lamp is wired for Spain, if used somewhere else it might need to be converted by the client.
