Stunning Vintage Mid-Century Authentic Murano „Fiori” Flush Mount, Italy 1960’s Classic example of a Murano fiori (flower) ceiling fixture, a style that became incredibly popular in the 1960s and 1970s. These were designed to look like glowing bouquets of flowers when illuminated. The clear glass petals feature a heavy texture to diffuse the light, paired with striking gold inclusions. In Murano glassmaking, this is typically achieved using the foglia d'oro (gold leaf) technique, where 24-karat gold leaf is rolled into the molten glass. Each individual glass flower is secured to the frame using small, decorative brass or gold-tone fluted finials, which act as the center of each blossom. The internal structure is built from a heavy wire lattice or mesh, supported by thicker radiating metal spokes. This specific "chicken wire" style frame is a hallmark of original mid-century Murano lighting and was heavily used in the 1960s and 70s to allow artisans to densely pack the glass pieces. The substantial rust and oxidation on the metal frame and the older style of the plastic bulb sockets confirm your note that this is an original vintage piece, not a modern reproduction. While many Murano glassmakers produced variations of this style, high-quality fixtures with gold inclusions and this specific petal shape are often attributed to renowned glasshouses like Barovier & Toso, Venini, or Seguso.
