About the Item

A rare and highly decorative Norwegian wall lamp produced by Astra, Norway, during the 1940s. The lamp features a sculptural brass frame with an organic, branch-like silhouette, giving it a strong decorative presence even when unlit. The five arms extend elegantly from the wall plate and carry beautifully textured glass shades, creating a warm and atmospheric light. The combination of patinated brass and delicate glass gives the piece a refined Scandinavian character, balancing craftsmanship, function and ornament. Astra was one of the Norwegian lighting manufacturers active during the mid-20th century, producing quality fixtures in the Scandinavian modern tradition. This example reflects the transition between earlier decorative design and the more organic, modernist expression that became increasingly popular in the 1940s and 1950s.
