About the Item

Suite of 4 sconces circa 1935 by Ezan in opalescent molded glass. Wrought iron frame. Electrified and in perfect condition. Height: 23cm Diameter: 21cm Depth: 28cm Width: 20 cm Total weight: 7.2 Kg Jean GAUTHIER Parisian decorator on glass and porcelain of the 1920s (France) Little information on this glass and porcelain decorator whose first establishment was located at 12 and 14 rue Jean Robert in the 18th arrondissement in Paris, before opening a factory in Ezanville to the north of the capital. Its glassware is signed “Gauthier”. Some pieces are signed "EJG Etablissements Jean Gauthier" and those made after 1930 are signed "Ezan", abbreviated to Ezanville. He produced a few vases with naturalistic decorations of similar qualities to those of Francois Théodore Legras. Despite all the capabilities of the manufacture, the enamel decorations are not excellent and for a company that works with lighting, the opacity and translucency of the base glass are not fully exploited.
