About the Item

A highly sculptural pair of Italian wall lights attributed to Oscar Tarlasco, distinguished by their striking chromed cubic structure and extraordinary optical lens diffusers in molded glass. The design is emblematic of the Space Age aesthetic that emerged in Italy during the late 1960s and early 1970s, where industrial precision and futuristic experimentation converged into highly architectural forms. Each applique is conceived almost as a luminous optical instrument: the thick convex glass lenses amplify and refract the light with remarkable depth, creating a sophisticated interplay of reflections, transparency and chrome. Their severe geometric volume is softened by the sensuality of the curved glass elements, resulting in a composition that feels simultaneously technical and elegant - very much in the spirit of the radical Milanese design culture of the period. Executed in chromed metal with original lens-shaped glass diffusers, the pair retains a beautiful vintage patina that enhances its authentic character. Italy, circa 1970. Materials: chromed metal, molded optical glass. Condition: original vintage condition with minor wear and oxidation consistent with age and use.
