About the Item

Pair of Italian wall sconces dating from the 1950s, characterized by a slender and angular composition typical of mid-century Italian lighting design. Each fixture is built around a round brass wall plate supporting an elongated brass arm, which rises diagonally toward a small horizontal element with a spherical central joint. The structure holds a softly rounded opaline glass diffuser with a slightly tapered profile and an open lower edge, designed to cast a gentle ambient light while also providing direct illumination. A pale green lacquered metal collar connects each glass shade to the brass frame, while a small matching green detail completes the terminal end of the upper element. The combination of aged brass, satin opaline glass and restrained green accents gives the sconces a balanced decorative character without compromising their clean, functional form. The brass surfaces display a natural vintage patina, with oxidation and tonal variations consistent with age. The lacquered metal elements show minor wear, while the opaline glass diffusers remain in good vintage condition with light signs of use. Overall in good vintage condition. Vintage original fixtures. Wired, functional, and in working condition. Suitable for use in Europe and the US with appropriate bulbs, but not certified to current UL or other contemporary national standards.
