Pair of Art Deco wall sconces, circa 1930. High-quality gilt bronze mounts. Pressed molded glass shades. Tourbillon model by Degué. Wired, B22 socket. In perfect condition. Total height: 22 cm Width: 10.5 cm Depth: 20 cm Total weight: 2.6 kg DEGUE (David GUERON) In 1926, David GUERON (1892-1950) took over a former glassworks in Compiègne (Oise), specializing in perfume bottles, which he named: "SA Cristalleries de Compiègne". In the same year, he founded the "Verrerie d'Art Degué" (Degué Art Glassworks) at 63 Boulevard Malherbes in Paris (factory) and acquired premises at 41 Rue de Paradis in the 10th arrondissement (showroom), in order to display his production of brightly colored, high-quality vases and lighting fixtures. This latter location was later moved to 52 Rue de Londres in Paris. He drew inspiration from the Art Deco style of Charles Schneider's designs, which led to legal action for counterfeiting, ultimately won by Schneider in 1932. Edouard Cazeaux was David Guéron's artistic director. The glassworks also produced industrial glasses and tumblers between 1934 and 1935. It fulfilled an order for 6,000 pieces for the ocean liner "Le Normandie," intended for wall and lighting decoration, consisting of glass slabs cut with a chisel. It was the Second World War that brought an end to the Degué Art Glassworks, with David Guéron leaving France in 1939 to escape the Nazis.
