An exceptionally decorative and highly sophisticated pair of Italian wall sconces by Chelini, Florence, one of Italy’s most respected makers of luxury decorative furnishings and lighting, internationally admired for its masterful craftsmanship and refined interpretation of classical European design traditions. Executed in hand-carved wood, these elegant two-arm sconces are a superb example of Florentine decorative artistry. Each piece has been entirely hand-carved, meticulously hand-painted, and beautifully polychrome decorated, with subtle parcel-gilt accents and a wonderfully nuanced aged surface finish that reflects the unmistakable quality of fine Italian craftsmanship. The sconces are designed in the form of the classical lyre, among the most poetic and enduring symbols of Western decorative history. Traditionally associated with Apollo, the lyre represents music, harmony, artistic excellence, culture, and intellectual refinement. More than functional lighting, these are sculptural decorative objects carrying deep symbolic elegance.
