About the Item

This beautifully striking pair of Mid-Century Modernist Shield Form Sconces in Polished Brass Originate from France, Circa 1960. Featuring primary plates of gleaming polished brass in an abstracted and minimal shield form profile, they beautifully reflect light from the surrounding space while casting illumination evenly across the surface they're mounted on. Afixed to their frames with two rounded fittings also in brass, the scale of the various elements is beautifully designed and will add brilliance and refined material presence wherever placed. These sconces are in the manner of Phillippe Hiquily, an artist and designer known for his dynamic use of form and achieving incredible works in brass, balancing the strength and beauty of the material with playful curvatures and formal exploration. These sconces will style beautifully in a wide array of interiors and settings, from Mid-Century Modernist to Contemporary and Minimal Interiors. Newly rewired to American Standards.
