René Mathieu for Lunel Wall Lamp Circa 1950s - Brass shade and arm - Red colour, with star pattern on shade - Light takes 1x B22 fitting bulbs - French ~ 1950s - 35cm width x 18cm height x 102cm maximum depth René Mathieu René Mathieu was a prominent French designer best known for his lighting designs for the Lunel company during the mid-20th century. Beginning his career in furniture design in the 1930s, he embraced modern materials such as metal, glass and plastic, helping to shape the clean, functional aesthetic of post-war French design. Following his service in the French Resistance during the Second World War, Mathieu resumed his career, producing furniture and lighting for major companies including Air France. His innovative work was exhibited at the 1937 Paris World's Fair and remains an important example of French modernist design. Condition Report Fully re wired with modern electrical components, some patina to both the shade surface and the arm but no major chips.
