Bianco Light & Space is a Los Angeles-based multi-faceted design and sculpture studio founded in 2013 by husband and wife team, Anthony Bianco and Alicia Reina. The studio specializes in creating sculptural, functional objects that fuse the concepts of light and space, drawing inspiration from nature, geometry, and ancient design principles. The duo’s minimalist aesthetic, combined with rigorous technical craftsmanship, has earned their designs a strong following in the world of high-end design and architecture. The studio’s work is characterized by its sophisticated and dynamic use of materials, primarily glass and textiles, and a commitment to traditional techniques like Venetian glassblowing, lapidary carving, pattern tessellation, color theory, and surface design. Their designs often blur the lines between art and function, resulting in objects that are both visually striking and practically usable. Many of their works, including standout pieces like the Polaris Chandelier and Selene Sconce, combine geometric simplicity with a subtle, otherworldly quality, giving them an almost architectural, space-age feel. Anthony Bianco, who graduated with a B.F.A. in glass from California College of Arts and Crafts, brings a wealth of experience and expertise in both sculpture and furniture design. His journey into glass started over two decades ago, after initial work with clay. He has worked with top industry names like Jeff Zimmerman and Silvano Signoretto, making him a highly respected figure in the field of glass art. Alicia Reina, with a B.F.A. in Apparel Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master's in Footwear Design from Polimoda in Florence, Italy, brings a strong design sensibility from her background in fashion, product design and development, merchandising, and art direction and curation. She has worked for renowned designers and artists, which enriches her approach to the studio’s projects, allowing them to cross boundaries of traditional design. Their work has been featured in major publications such as Vogue Living AU, Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, W Magazine, and Sight Unseen, solidifying their place in the contemporary design world. Bianco Light & Space products stand out not only for their striking aesthetic but also for their technical mastery, making them highly coveted by collectors, designers, and architects alike.
