About the Item

Sculpted solid brass in a polished unlacquered finish, machined and mechanically fastened. Goatskin parchment shade with accordion-folded face and handstitched edges. Hand-dyed braided cotton cord. All material finishes are living finishes: they will change and patina for the better with time and use. Shades are made from genuine goatskin parchment, hand-selected for each lamp for its natural texture, pattern and color. Reminiscent of the lunar surface, its superior quality of light is unlike paper of any kind. Variations in pattern and texture are the be expected as each skin is unique. Shade construction is unlined, utilizing a single layer of parchment for optimal light transmission and may have a slight bow or curvature of the surface. This is a natural characteristic of the grain of the animal hide as well as the hand stretching and tanning process. Individually hand assembled and stamped with a unique serial number. Slight variations in color, size and shape are to be expected. Backplate is made to fit only a single gang vertical junction box with standard 3-1/4" screw distance; please confirm ability to install to this type of junction box before ordering. Hardwired fixtures must be installed by a licensed electrician. Recommended bulb "G16 5W LED 2700k" included, max 60 watt bulb. Overall size 12-5/8” H x 5-1/2” D x 7” W, shade 8" H x 7" W x 5" D. "Smoke" acid patinated brass components can be buffed with a soft dry cloth to rebrighten over time. Never clean lamp with any liquid products or detergents. Provided wired as per North American standards. UL certification available upon request, please enquire regarding modifications and additional fee. Each piece is individually hand-made to order and slotted in frequent production batches; exact lead time is determined once order is placed. Also available as corded with plug and inline switch, please inquire. Polished unlacquered brass components can be rebrightened over time with Brasso if desired. Never clean lamp with any liquid products or detergents. Please confirm brass finish when placing order; price shown for polished unlacquered brass.
