About the Item

A striking set of five Danish Modern stoneware wall sconces by Per Bovin, produced in Denmark in the 1970s in his own workshop in Bornholm, Denmark. Each sconce features a beautifully tactile, hand-worked ceramic surface with a concentric, spiraling central motif surrounded by a field of individually pierced openings. The organic arrangement of perforations creates an especially atmospheric effect when illuminated, casting intricate patterns of warm light and shadow across the surrounding wall. The sconces have a substantial, sculptural form, with subtly varied tones and textures that emphasize their handmade character. Their combination of earthy stoneware, geometric repetition, and organic craftsmanship is quintessentially Danish Modern, while the pierced construction gives the pieces a distinctly architectural quality. The set of five is particularly impressive installed as a group, creating a rhythmic composition on the wall. Equally compelling individually, these sconces work beautifully in a residential interior, hospitality setting, or collected modernist installation.
