About the Item

Nice and minimalistic pair of 'Model 232' wall lamps, designed by Bruno Gatta and manufactured by Stilnovo, Italy 1954. The large bowl-shaped shades are supported by a black painted metal arm, the wall mounted cap is the same finish as the shade and these lamps can also be used as a ceiling lamp. This neutral colour makes it possible to use these lamps in practically every home or interior. The lamps are very easy to wall or ceiling mount due to the ingenious hanging system that Gatta invented for many of the lamps by Stilnovo. These can be used as wall or ceiling lamp and Use 2x E27 bulb up to 60 watt each. Bruno Gatta was the director and head of design from Stilnovo almost during the entire period. He founded the Stilnovo publishing house in 1946 in Lainate, an industrial suburb of Milan. Despite its small scale, Stilnovo operated according to a true industrial logic from 1952-1955 – unlike other Italian brands, such as Arredoluce and O’Luce. Experimentation with new materials and shapes is at the heart of its production method. Until the second half of the 1960s, most of the designs were made by the company’s technical office, which was led by Bruno Gatta, then headed by Gaetano Scolari and bore the brand’s signature. Bruno Gatta died in 1976 in his birthplace Linate. This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is suitable for use in the USA. For US usage we could change the plug or you can get a converter if needed for a floor or table lamp with transformer in it. Feel free to inquire for options.
