About the Item

Exceptional antique Arts & Craft table lamp was hand made in wicker and rattan by an artisan in New York state in 1918-1920. Round base and columnar body are done in tightly woven wicker and rattan and are stabilized by a wooden base. The original brass hardware, harp, and finial support woven dome shaped shade that has the original fabric lining hand stitched on the inside. While similar lamps were made by Heywood-Wakefield, this lamp has noticeable hand-made qualities, showcasing intricate craftsmanship and a distinctively organic aesthetic. It is signed on the wooden base with the name of the artisan with the added date and the area where the lamp was created. The lamp is in good antique condition with almost no damage to rattan except for one broken strand on the shade and a few strands getting loose, an issue that can be easily repaired professionally; the fabric lining on the shade might benefit from the professional cleaning, but has no noticeable damages. The base and body are in remarkably good condition; brass parts have beautiful, age-appropriate patina. The 100-year-old lamp was carefully preserved by a collector, as close to the original state as possible, with minimal to no interventions; we're leaving the decisions on repairs and replacements with the next owners.
