At the turn of the 20th century, Art Nouveau emerged as a reaction against historic revival styles and the mass-production brought about by the Industrial Revolution. It favoured organic lines, natural motifs, and a sense of fluidity. Across Europe, designers sought to create objects that felt alive, drawing inspiration from plants, vines, and patterns found in nature.
