About the Item

At the turn of the 20th century, Art Nouveau emerged as a reaction against historic revival styles and the mass-production brought about by the Industrial Revolution. It favoured organic lines, natural motifs, and a sense of fluidity. Across Europe, designers sought to create objects that felt alive, drawing inspiration from plants, vines, and patterns found in nature. This table lamp sits firmly within that context, reflecting the period’s fascination with craftsmanship, ornament and atmosphere. The design of this lamp has a clear focus on the ceramic body. The unique base features a beautiful and organic colour palette with decorative details, giving a clear artistic touch. The base has a plump, rounded profile that feels grounded and inviting. Its ceramic body is covered in a rich, layered glaze that shifts between deep blues, creating a soft gradient. The surface displays texture, reminding of the material’s natural qualities. The fabric shade introduces another layer of warmth, diffusing the light into an ambient glow that complements the ceramic below. Together, the stoneware and textile create a dialogue between weight and softness, cool ceramic and warm illumination. This interplay is what makes the piece feel both functional and artistic. Over a century since its creation, this Art Nouveau lamp stands as a timeless testament to an era that celebrated the marriage of art and craftsmanship, where even the smallest details were treated as opportunities for creative expression. This model is a true accent lighting piece, sure to start a conversations about style and beauty. Condition: In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The lamp has recently been reconditioned and rewired. The shade is a later replacement. This lamp is compatible with an E27 fitting. Due to the age of the lamp we recommend using LED bulbs.
