If sold to the USA it will be wired for the USA for instance. Table lamp in steel and aluminium. Biny in a few words: efficiency, simplicity, sobriety and elegance. Designed in 1957 by Jacques Biny, this lamp provides both soft and efficient lighting. Conceived for comfortable reading, the fins can be adjusted via a wheel to direct the light to the precise part of the surface you want to illuminate. Jacques Biny is a major French luminary from the era of the glorious 30s. Unlike other designers, he is also a publisher (serial Industrial manufacturer) and has collaborated with some of the best young designers of his time, such as Michel Buffet, Gustave Gauthier, Jean Boris Lacroix or Charles Ramos. Together, they embarked on the adventure of serial modern lighting. In 1955, Jacques Biny opened Luminalite, his workshop for producing modern lighting. The Designer-Manufacturer who was born in 1913 developed over 400 models during a 30 year career. Jacques Biny’s hallmark was rigour and he never stopped in his quest to improve how homes were lit. Functionality was primary, the lack of superfluity in the form reminiscent of the Minimalist movement that was gaining currency in American art during the 1960s, which may go to explain why his work is as popular with American collectors as it is with Europeans. Efficiency and simplicity, restraint, elegance and modesty are the common denominators in Jacques Biny’s work.
