About the Item

A glazed stoneware table lamp produced byC.A.S. Vietri(Ceramiche Artistiche Solimene, Vietri sul Mare, Italy) around 1950. The ovoid ceramic body featurestwo stylized nude figures—interpreted as Adam and Eve—set among abstract plant motifsin turquoise over aspeckled charcoal-gray ground. The form and decoration reflect the expressive, hand-painted approach characteristic of postwar ceramics from the Solimene workshop, whose production bridged artisan craft and modern design. Ceramic with crazing to glaze as well as several burst bubbles throughout. One notable loss to glaze along upper edge where lamp body is joined with socket. Lamp is lacking shade. Wired for American outlets and functions properly. Additional information: Material: Glazed Stoneware Designer: C.A.S.
