About the Item

Chinoiserie style table lamps by Antonio Campuzano, Spain, 1960s. A very representative items of the authentic Asian art, handmade by this spanish sculptor. Each piece is made of crackled glazed ceramic representing a typical Oriental elephant in a pedestal with ornamentation, in ivory white tone finish. Black lacquered wooden base and brass structure. One of the lamps is sealed at the inner part of the base with the sculptor's emblem, and the other one has the seal outside. Hollywood Regency, Oriental, Palm Beach Regency, Mid-Century Modern and French Riviera and Provincial styles. This type of oriental style lamps became very popular from the 1960s on. Antonio Campuzano i Solans (1919-1988) was a sculptor, figurist and nativity scener, and his work belongs to the Talarn or Historicist School. His training was self-taught, and he used his art in sculpture and terracotta ceramics, performing his works in small formats and with different finishes depending on the piece, being able to leave them in natural terractoa or finished in vitrified and crackled earthenware, among many other finishes. Currently many of his works are considered collector's pieces and can be obtained through specialized antique dealers and auction houses. Another table lamp from the same sculptor is available in my profile. For one E27 bulb each piece (compatible with American E26 bulbs). Original electrical installation reviewed and fully operational, with their original brass and ceramic lamp holders. LED compatible. Little repair in on of the table lamps (see last photo). Lampshade not included. The measurements are without the lampshade. Note: We always try to the fullest to respect and preserve as much as possible all the original elements of each piece (wiring, lampshade, finishes...) so as not to alter the original aesthetics and so that they can continue to have another life with their intact soul. That is why sometimes certain elements can present wear and tear, but they are part of the life of each piece, always providing a very pleasant patina.
