Designed by Eric Wärnå and produced by EWÅ Armaturfabrik in Värnamo during the 1950s, the Model B261B pairs a shrink-lacquered red shade and base with refined brass detailing — a combination that feels both industrially precise and warmly decorative. The adjustable hood allows for directional light control, while the lamp's dual-purpose design adds a further layer of versatility: it functions equally well as a table lamp or, using the included brass wall fitting, as a wall-mounted light. That kind of considered flexibility is a hallmark of the best Scandinavian design of the period — objects conceived not just to look beautiful, but to adapt gracefully to the spaces they inhabit. EWÅ Armaturfabrik, based in Värnamo, Sweden, was a mid-20th-century lighting manufacturer known for producing functional yet stylish lamps during the height of Scandinavian modern design. Active particularly in the 1940s and 1950s, the company combined industrial metalworking with contemporary design principles, creating lighting that reflected the clean lines and practical elegance associated with Swedish modernism. EWÅ operated from a purpose-built modernist factory erected in Värnamo in the 1950s, underscoring its role in the region’s growing design and manufacturing industry. Although smaller and less internationally documented than major Swedish lighting brands, EWÅ Armaturfabrik contributed to the rich ecosystem of regional manufacturers that helped establish Sweden’s reputation for high-quality, well-crafted modern lighting. In very good vintage condition, the lamp has been rewired and is ready for use. It shows minor wear, with two very small spots on the shade (see photos), but otherwise retains its original charm and integrity.
