About the Item

A French limestone table lamp by sculptor Arsène Galisson from the 1970s. Carved from a solid block of pale stone, the form is monolithic yet quietly expressive, its softened rectangular silhouette opening into a recessed, grotto-like void. Concentric tool marks trace the interior contours, revealing the artist’s hand and lending a rhythmic, almost geological quality to the surface. When illuminated, light filters gently from within the carved aperture, accentuating the depth of the cavity and the natural texture of the limestone. Signed by the artist, the lamp stands as both a functional light source and a decorative object, well suited for a console, pedestal, or intimate interior setting. Condition: Great vintage condition. This lamp is signed by the artist on the reverse, and has been professionally rewired by our team of restorationists with a new socket and plug. Accepts one E12 candelabra base light bulb.
