About the Item

Sculptural Italian Lighting by Gaetano Sciolari A striking table lamp by Gaetano Sciolari, dating from the 1970s. The design features a substantial hand-blown Murano glass base in soft translucent blue and white tones, creating beautiful variations in colour and depth as light passes through the glass. Its generous proportions and sculptural silhouette make it a distinctive example of Italian mid-century lighting. Murano Glass and Chrome The rounded Murano glass body is complemented by Sciolari's characteristic use of polished chrome, with a sculptural stepped metal fitting connecting the glass base to the shade. The combination of reflective chrome and softly coloured glass gives the lamp the glamorous character associated with Gaetano Sciolari's lighting designs of the period. Original Period Shade The lamp is presented with its large period cylindrical shade, detailed with reflective metallic bands around the upper and lower edges.
