Gino Sarfatti attributed desk lamp manufactured by Targetti Sankey in Italy during the 1970s, this task lamp pairs a flat circular black metal base with a flexible ribbed gooseneck stem. The stem supports a horizontal cylindrical shade in satin-finish aluminum with a Gray-taupe tone, fitted with ventilation slots along the top and a small adjustment knob. An inline switch on the black cord provides straightforward operation. The design is unadorned and purely functional — a direct expression of the rationalist thinking that defined Sarfatti's output. Gino Sarfatti founded Arteluce in Milan in 1939 and became one of the most prolific and technically rigorous lighting designers of the twentieth century, producing well over 600 designs. His work consistently prioritized engineering logic and material honesty over decoration. The Targetti Sankey collaboration in the 1970s continued that ethos, bringing Sarfatti's approach to task and directional lighting to a broader production context. This lamp reflects the period's interest in flexible, user-adjustable lighting solutions. Shows minor wear consistent with age and use. Retains original components throughout.
