About the Item

Designed by Harald Notini for Böhlmarks, this elegant Swedish table lamp, model 6942, is a fine example of Scandinavian lighting from the early 1930s. The model is documented in the original Böhlmarks catalogue from 1933 (plate 94), where it is illustrated under model number 6942 and listed in brass. The original catalogue reference accompanies the lamp, providing valuable provenance and confirming its period production. Harald Notini (1879–1959) is regarded as one of Sweden’s foremost lighting designers of the first half of the twentieth century. As artistic director and chief designer for Böhlmarks, he created a wide range of refined lighting fixtures that combined exceptional craftsmanship with restrained elegance. His work bridges the transition from Swedish Grace to early Scandinavian Functionalism, and his designs are celebrated for their balanced proportions, architectural clarity, and timeless aesthetic.     Rewired: Omars eketriska. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. The lacquer has worn and flaked on the interior of the shade (please refer to the photographs). The black lacquered wooden base shows minor scratches, surface wear, and small signs of use. The brass has developed a beautiful natural patina over time.
