About the Item

Jean‑Pierre Vitrac’s Flower Lamp is an iconic piece of French design first created around 1970 for the lighting firm Verre Lumière. Jean-Pierre Vitrac is a French designer best known for his innovative lighting and furniture creations from the 1970s and 1980s. Born in 1944, he became associated with modern industrial design and gained recognition for producing stylish lamps and decorative objects that combined functionality with artistic creativity. Many of his works were manufactured by the French company Verre Lumière, which collaborated with several important designers of the era. His designs often featured sleek metallic structures, adjustable forms, and futuristic aesthetics that reflected the spirit of contemporary French interior design. Among his most famous creations are the “Fleur” adjustable lamp and the “Éventail” lamp, both admired for their elegant shapes and practical design. Vitrac also designed decorative objects such as perpetual calendars and picnic sets, showing his versatility beyond lighting design. His works continue to appear in international auctions and museum collections, where they are appreciated by collectors of vintage and modern design. Today, Jean-Pierre Vitrac is remembered as an influential figure in French decorative arts whose creations captured the innovative style of late twentieth-century design.
