After his training in glass at the European Center for Research and Training in Glass Arts (CERFAV) in Vannes le Chatel, Xavier Le Normand lived for several nomadic years as an intern, perfecting his craft at various workshops and at the CIRVA in Marseille, before becoming the studio assistant for Philippe Baldwin and Monica Guggisberg in Bastille. He now works independently, and his work as a designer, glassblower and carver/engraver has earned him a strong reputation among the new generation of glass artists trained at the CERFAV. This piece of imposing size comprises several layers of blown glass and an internal silvering that highlights the subtleties of the very accomplished coloration. It was completed during the 2020 confinement with a rich, lively and organic cold engraving that the artist has combined with coral branches.
