About the Item

The wood block and turned appearance of this lamp are all an illusion because it is made of pottery, not wood. It is so unusual. As to where this was made, that's hard to say; the silhouette - with its ring, bun and block 'turning' - is comparable to turnings on wooden furniture made in the US, England and in Europe. It is vintage, probably mid 20th Century. Of circular section with flaring incised neck, reel and bun turned standard over a squared block, all on a socle-style foot. The lamp is made of pottery with faux wood graining overall. Surmounted by a cylindrical linen fabric shade, possibly original to the piece. The overall height is 21-7/8 inches and it is 9 inches at the widest point.

Minor losses. This is an attractive vintage table lamp. There is a slight break in the ceramic on a corner of one of the blocks. A little conservancy, and this could be perfectly restored.
