About the Item

A beautiful mid-century tall, brutalist, abstract Table Lamp with original tall shade, circa 1970’s. Formed of welded metal panels in an irregular sculptural appearance with the original shade mounted on a black cube. Original tall drum shade accented with a beautiful gold band at top. It is in good overall vintage condition. Measurements: Overall measurements with shades 17.5”W x 17.5”D x 49.5”H to top of shade (height to the top of socket 36 1/4?tall) (height to the top of finial 50 3/4? tall ) (measurements of base 5" x 5") drum shade measure 20 1/4? tall x 16.5” diameter top x 17.5”diameter bottom

Rare hard to find vintage 1960s incised stoneware pottery table lamp designed by ceramicist husband and wife duo Jane and Gordon Martz of Marshall Studios, in Veedersburg, Indiana. The incised motif was first issued in catalog 16 from the 60s. This distinct design was publicized in the Marshall Studios 1974 Catalog No.35. The stoneware is rendered in deep gold, with a tan abstract incised motif. The base is slip-cast and then dipped into glaze. Signed “Martz” on the lower backside. It features their classic slightly tapered cylindrical ceramic base with original final and original drum shade, incised motif detail at the top, the design also consists of a magnificent teak neck with matching classic Martz teak finial, opting for an upgrade from walnut.
