Mid-Century Modern Vladimír Nývlt Solid Wood Table Lamp, Prague, 1970s Rare sculptural form in dark-stained wood, geometric silhouette – fully functional This striking mid-century table lamp is attributed to Czech designer Vladimír Nývlt and was produced in Prague during the 1970s. The design exemplifies a bold, sculptural language rooted in postwar modernism, characterized by precise geometry, fine craftsmanship, and expressive material use. Crafted in solid wood and finished in a deep, matte stain, the lamp’s form is defined by its bold architectural silhouette. A circular cut-out intersects a tilted rectangular plane, which is grounded by a cylindrical base—together forming a minimalist composition that evokes Brutalist and Constructivist influences. The large cylindrical shade is covered in a warm natural woven textile, providing a beautiful textural contrast to the sleek dark base. When lit, the lamp diffuses a soft, ambient glow that accentuates the interplay between form and function. The textile shade is original and remains in good vintage condition with light wear consistent with age. Fitted with a standard E27 socket, the lamp is in full working order and accommodates both LED and incandescent bulbs. It comes wired with an EU plug; rewiring is recommended for use outside the EU to meet local electrical standards.
