About the Item

A pair of French table lamps made from handwoven wicker-covered glass bottles with matching handwoven rattan shades, dating from the 1960s. The bottles have been professionally converted into lamps with brass fittings and rewired with black vintage-style cords, inline switches, and plugs. These lamps reflect the mid-century interest in traditional craftsmanship and natural materials, a design approach embraced by figures such as Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Chapo, and Franco Albini. By elevating vernacular basketry techniques into functional, modern objects, they embody the understated elegance that characterized much of European design during the period. Their simple forms, warm tones, and natural textures make them versatile pieces, equally suited to Mid-Century Modern, Organic Modern, coastal, country, or rustic interiors.
