Pair of Monumental Hand-Hammered Silver-Plated Modernist Table Lamps This pair of monumental hand-hammered silver-plated modernist table lamps presents a striking combination of sculptural form and exceptional metal craftsmanship. Executed in the 2000s, the lamps transform functional lighting into architectural objects, their dramatic silhouettes recalling the handcrafted studio metalwork that emerged during the late twentieth century. Each lamp is constructed from heavy-gauge metal finished in bright silver plate and meticulously hand-hammered across nearly every visible surface. Thousands of individual hammer blows create a richly faceted texture that catches and reflects light, producing a lively surface that shifts between soft satin and brilliant highlights as one moves around the piece. The contrast between the hammered planes and the smooth cylindrical socket assembly emphasizes the precision of the fabrication while celebrating the artisan's hand. The design is defined by an elegant, waisted profile that rises from a substantial square plinth before flowing into broad, sweeping shoulders with gently rolled edges. The sculptural geometry suggests folded sheet metal that has been stretched into a continuous, fluid form, balancing strength with visual lightness. Excellent vintage condition with light age-appropriate wear to the silver-plated finish. The pair displays beautifully and is ready for immediate use.
