Stellar wood & brass plate pair of lamps in the style of Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin. New hardback tapered drum shades in black & white tweed fabric. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There are a few divots in the wood grain and some rust spots on the brass plated steel bands. They have been professionally cleaned but we did not want to replace the bands and change the authenticity. And honestly, we love the look of a little age patina. The wiring has been tested and is in working order. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1970’s. When you find something as awesome as this pair of lamps, you have a hard time letting them go… This is a spectacular pair of mid-century modern lamps comprised of gorgeous wood grain & brass plated steel bands, single switch on the socket, and new hardback tapered drum shades in an awesome black & white tweed fabric… they almost have a gray hue at a distance and from different angles. And although we LOVE them in these shades, we would be inclined to sell them without them if you wish. Have we mentioned these are in the style of the ICONIC duo Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin?? YES!! And, when eclectic partnership such as Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin come together and create, it results in furniture with style and presence that is simply unmatchable and highly sought after. Although these lamps have no tags or documentation to authenticate them as Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin, they accompanied the complete set that we have, and are made with the same materials as the items that ARE marked and documented. Either way, they are amazing whether included with the matching bedroom set or standing on their own! Due to their vintage era, they have a few divots in the wood grain and some rust spots in the brass plated steel bands…but we just love a beautiful age patina so have left them as is other than a good cleaning, restoring the wood’s luster, and checking the wiring. They will be fabulous in your bedroom or out in your living room. Maybe on each side of your sofa on a pair of end tables? Or, if you don’t like things to be quite so symmetrical, it would be perfectly fine to split up the pair and use them in different spots. One of the most remarkable partnerships in the mid-century modern to modern design world was the phenomenal furniture making duo of Milo Baughman and Thayer Coggin. Milo Baughman, a 20th Century genius of design, was born in Western Kansas in 1923 but was moved a year later by his family to Long Beach, California. He created Milo Baughman Design Inc. in 1947 and began designing interiors and furniture. Thayer Coggin was born in 1922 in Denton, North Carolina. Twelve years later his family moved 25 miles north to High Point where he grew up surrounded by furniture manufacturing. Thayer’s first love was furniture and Milo’s was design. So, together in 1953, after the two met, history was made in American furniture making by one of the greatest collaborations in the industry. During his career and before his death in 2003, Milo did design for several other companies as well as his own, but it is his collaboration with Thayer Coggin that is most impressive and sought-after today. Thayer Coggin, Inc. is still in business today even after its namesake’s death and is still offering classic selections from the late Baughman’s designs. Whatever you choose to do with this outstanding pair of lamps in the style of Milo Baughman & Thayer Coggin, you should choose to make them yours!! Repaired: There are a few chips, nicks, or dings in the wood . Wiring checked and sockets replaced. This was done by our experienced staff. Wear consistent with age and use. Beautiful condition, vintage not new will have signs of use and wear. A few divots in the wood grain and some rust spots on the brass plated steel bands. They have been professionally cleaned but did not replace for authenticity. Please see photos.
