About the Item

A stunning large scale Italian mid 19th century Louis XVI st. giltwood mirror. The mirror retains its original mirror plate set within a beautiful finely carved mottled foliate band with a delicate and most decorative lattice background. At each bottom corner are superb scrolled acanthus leaves amidst lovely foliate movements and berries with charming intricately detailed blooming floral garlands seemingly wrapping around and growing up each straight side. The majestic top crown displays a sensational array of exceptionally carved blooming flowers and leaves with a remarkable central scrolled foliate reserve amidst beautiful scrolled carved gadroon shaped movements in a rich satin and burnished finish. All original gilt throughout.
