A distinguished example of 18th-century French Neoclassicism, this Louis XVI giltwood mirror features an architectural rectangular frame topped by an elaborate pierced cresting. The crown is centered by a classical urn and a laurel wreath, flanked by elegant foliate swags that soften the frame's structured, beaded borders.
The original giltwood surface has mellowed into a rich, authentic patina, perfectly complementing the foxed mercury-silvered plate. Resting on understated Greek key block feet, its scale and weathered elegance make it a striking focal point for both traditional and eclectic contemporary interiors.
