A refined and beautifully understated modernist mirror designed by Olof Ottelin, featuring a clean teak frame that highlights the purity of its form. Produced by Keravan Puuseppätehdas, the piece exemplifies the essence of Nordic minimalism, where function and proportion take precedence and every detail is considered. The composition is reduced to its absolute essentials, a mirror and a finely crafted wooden frame, elevated by a subtle yet thoughtful design sensibility. Olof Ottelin (1917–1971) was a prominent Finnish interior architect and furniture designer, best known for his role as chief designer and head of the furniture department at Stockmann during the 1950s. His work reflects a disciplined modernist approach, balancing clarity of line with warmth of material. Among Ottelin’s notable designs are the Status, Camillo, Nero, Kaleva and Othello series, all of which demonstrate his commitment to functional elegance. This mirror belongs to the Nordika series, a cohesive collection that also included dining chairs and a sofa, conceived with the same restrained aesthetic and harmonious proportions.
